From the early revision of; "Logarithmic and Exponential Functions: Breaking the “curse gap” and Breathing Life into a Withering Topic"
The “matheducators” discussion cites several examples of various “curriculums” and “pathways” that seem to imply introducing logarithms earlier— including the dreaded Common Core State Standards (Math Educators, 2014) – which have gotten a lot of negative press due to their connection to the rise of Bush-era standardized tests and No Child Left Behind policies (NPRed, 2014). These negative connotations, in my opinion, are being used as political buzz words of blame and ridicule of opponents and proponents used on varying political sides— hoping to create enough rancor in the current political climate to rustle up the needed votes to get re-elected, which have little regard for the math student’s grasp of important concepts needed for success after graduation.
