#cultofintelligence In this video, I walk through a real discussion question from one of my math classes, but the ideas go far beyond a single assignment. You will see how to solve second- and third-degree polynomial equations by factoring, with a special focus on the AC method for trinomials and factoring by grouping for cubic (third-degree) polynomials. I also demonstrate how to check solutions by substitution, plugging values back into the original equation to confirm they really work. Then we move to a graphical perspective, using Desmos to visualize the polynomial and verify the solutions as x-intercepts. Even though this problem comes from a specific class discussion, the techniques apply to any situation where factoring and graphing polynomials help you find solutions. Desmos is an amazing, free online graphing calculator that makes it easy to explore functions and check your work in real time: https://www.desmos.com/calculator. If you have never used Desmos before, I highly recommend trying it out while you watch so you can follow along and experiment with your own equations. If you enjoy step-by-step walkthroughs like this and want more practice with factoring, grouping, graphing, and checking solutions, make sure to subscribe and turn on notifications so you do not miss future videos. #factoring #polynomials #quadratics #cubics #algebra2 #acmethod #factoringbygrouping #Desmos #graphingcalculator #mathtutorial #studenthelp
